Five different players scored touchdowns, and three different quarterbacks threw touchdown passes, leading the Missouri Valley College football team to a 38-0 Heart of America Athletic Conference victory over Graceland on Gregg-Mitchell Field on Saturday.

The Vikings, coming off a 3-8 season, dominated the game on both sides of the ball. They totaled 509 yards of offense, including 254 yards on the ground. The defense limited the Yellowjackets to eight first downs and 159 yards of offense. The Vikings recorded four quarterback sacks and a pass interception.

Jameel Smith paced Valley’s ground game with 96 yards- including a 5-yard TD run- in nine carries. Kahil Harshaw raced 67 yards for the game’s first TD and finished with 94 rushing yards in 11 totes.

Ryan Albiani, who was 8 for 16 for 91 yards as the starting quarterback, hit Wayne Grant with a 12-yard scoring strike to make the score 15-0 a little more than five minutes deep into the second quarter.

Brenden Marsh connected with Isaac Bausely on a screen pass. Bausley sped down the MVC sideline on a 56-yard scoring play late in the half to increase the lead to 22-0.

Mike Flores hauled in a 19-yard scoring pass from Darrion Cole about halfway through the third quarter for a 28-0 advantage; and Jimmy Lahrman added a 36-yard field goal late in the third quarter.

Cole was the Vikings’ leading passer, completing six of nine for 97 yards. Marsh was two for five for 67 yards.

The 1-0 Vikings are scheduled to play at William Penn in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on Saturday, October 3. The Statesmen lost at Central Methodist 14-12 on Saturday to fall to 1-1.
