Three more COVID-19-related deaths were reported in an area county on Thursday, October 1.

According to health-department officials, the three deaths raise the total to 17 since the beginning of the pandemic in Lafayette County. Also, 24 more positive cases were confirmed, increasing the county’s total to 582. With 324 recoveries and 17 deaths, 241 cases remain active.

Johnson County saw the largest increase in positive cases with 40, upping its total to 1,308. With six deaths and 1,009 positive patients recovered, there are 293 active cases.

The total positive case count jumped by 19 to 813 in Saline County. Due to 695 recoveries and 12 deaths, there are 106 active cases, including four persons hospitalized.

Carroll County reported four new positive cases, raising its total to 142. With 120 recoveries and one death, there are 21 active cases.

Updates were not available from Chariton, Cooper, Howard and Pettis Counties.
