Dorothy Jean Meyer, age 82, of Boonville, died Sunday, October 18, 2020.

Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, at Howard Funeral Home in Boonville, where visitation begins at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) and to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).

Dorothy is survived by three children, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Daughters, Betty Sue (Stan) Elliott, of Marshall, and Marcella D. (Bill) Humfeld, of Boonville; and son, Michael A. Wells, of St. Louis, with his partner, Shannen Green. Other family survivors include: her younger sisters, Betty Ann Sampo, of Boonville, and Carol Sue Calvin, of Jefferson City; three nieces, a nephew and many cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie Violet Freese (Wise) and George D. Downs; her stepfather, Benjamin Freese; a grandson and a great-grandson.
