A 22-year-old Bates City resident has been charged with a felony for allegedly having non-consensual sex with a female subject on September 11.

According to a probable-cause statement, the female said she had consumed an excessive amount of alcohol, and Cameron Johns had secured a motel room in Odessa. She said she fell asleep and woke up to Johns on top of her having intercourse with her. She said she had a sexual-assault kit collected at a hospital on September 12.

During his interview, Johns admitted to supplying the female with alcohol and having intercourse with her in the motel room. The report says Johns agreed with the law-enforcement officer that the female was too drunk to consent to having sex with him.

According to court documents, Johns has been charged with an Unclassified Felony for Rape or Attempted Rape in the First Degree and a misdemeanor for supplying alcohol to a minor. The court has ordered no bond.

Johns entered a not-guilty plea during his arraignment hearing on Thursday, October 22. His next hearing is scheduled to be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
