Area residents need to know that some special training by a state law-enforcement agency will be held in the KMMO listening area beginning this week.

According to Marshall Public Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher, the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be using the city’s portion of the district’s northern property (adjacent to the Spainhower Primary School, Tudor House and HOOT House) for training beginning Wednesday, October 28.

Dr. Maher says there will be patrol cars entering and leaving the property, but the officers will try to park as to not be visible to the public.

Dr. Maher says, “The officer who called was very respectful and wanted to make sure the school and community were informed and ready for the drills that will be held there until mid-November.”

Dr. Maher says if there are calls or concerns, you are urged to let others know the drills were scheduled with input from the school district. The patrol put a lot of thought into the plans and asked for input from the district before proceeding.
