Positive COVID-19 cases continue to spike across the KMMO listening area.

According to health department officials, on Thursday, November 19, well over 200 new positive cases were reported in the area, plus one more COVID-19-related death.

The largest overall increase was in Cooper County, where the total jumped by 164 from 957 on November 10 to 1,121. With 911 positive patients released from public health isolation as recovered and six deaths, there are 204 active cases, including 12 positive patients hospitalized.

The largest one-day increase was 59 in Pettis County, raising its total to 2,968. Due to 1,880 positive patients recovered and 30 deaths, there are 1,068 active cases, including 25 positive patients hospitalized.

The death of an 86-year-old man raises Saline County’s total to 17. In addition, 36 new positive cases were reported, upping the county’s total to 1,578. With 1,297 recoveries – including 32 on Thursday – the active case count is now 264, including 10 positive patients hospitalized.

Twelve new positive cases were reported in Chariton County, increasing its total to 384. With 242 positive patients recovered, there are 142 active cases.

Updates were not available from Carroll, Howard and Lafayette Counties.
