A 31-year-old Marshall man is facing multiple felony charges for allegedly having forcible sex with a minor.

According to a probable-cause statement, the juvenile female’s mother reported to authorities on June 12, 2019, the juvenile was raped approximately two years before. The mother explained that she learned her daughter disclosed to a family friend that she was raped by Kyle Joseph Farrelly on March 13, 2017. The mother said her daughter was 10 years old at the time the initial sexual encounter took place. Farrelly also is alleged to have had more unwanted sexual encounters with the juvenile since then.

The juvenile described in explicit detail of the sexual encounters with Farrelly to a child-safe investigator on June 18, 2019.

On December 6, 2019, Farrelly was located and arrested. He denied having any inappropriate sexual contact with the girl. However, authorities say they uncovered several text messages between Farrelly and the juvenile female that appeared to be sexual in nature.

Court documents say Farrelly is charged with a Class C Felony for Statutory Rape in the Second Degree; two counts of an Unclassified Felony for Statutory Rape or Attempted Statutory Rape in the First Degree with a Person Less Than 12 Years Old; an Unclassified Felony for Forcible Sodomy- Deviate Sexual Intercourse By Forcible Compulsion; and an Unclassified Felony for Attempted Enticement of a Child (Actor 21 Years of Age or Older and Child Less Than 15 Years of Age. The judge has ordered no bond.

Farrelly’s initial hearing is pending at Saline County Circuit Court.
