Larry Hellabusch, 80, of Columbia, died Tuesday, November 24 at University Hospital in Columbia.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 4 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Glasgow, with Fr. Paul Hartley officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow Friday’s service at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow. Please note, face masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be observed.

Lawrence Louis Hellebusch was born September 24, 1940 in Washington, Mo., a son to the late Eugene Vincent and Henrietta (Haskamp) Hellebusch. Larry attended seminary school in Nebraska for two years. He then returned to Missouri and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1958. After high school, Larry served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. On November 7, 1964, Larry married the love of his life, Charlotte Flaspohler, at St. Mary Church in Glasgow. Together they’ve enjoyed just over 56 years of marriage. Larry previously owned the Glasgow Café, he worked in construction, and did a lot of mechanic work on old and new cars. He primarily worked as a self-employed real estate agent. Larry was an avid hunter and working on automobiles was a true passion. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte, of the home; two children, Greg Hellebusch and Kim (Matt Rife) Hellebusch, both of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Cooper Rife and Ethan Hellebusch; three siblings, Betty (George) Flaspohler of Glasgow, Mo., Bill Hellebusch of Armstrong, Mo. and Connie (Cliff) Lackland of Fayette, Mo. Larry is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Hellebusch.
