A 32-year-old Kansas City resident is facing a couple of felony charges after a traffic crash in Pettis County on Thursday, December 3.

A Sedalia Police report says officers responded to the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Montgomery Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident. While responding, officers were notified the two persons in the vehicle had left the scene. They were located walking on South Summit Avenue.

An investigation revealed Kyle Gabauer was driving the vehicle when it left the roadway and struck a tree in the 900 block of East Broadway Boulevard. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Kansas City on July 28.

Court documents say Gabauer is charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree; a Class E Felony for Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage Exceeding $1,000; and a driving-related misdemeanor. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Gabauer’s initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
