Bond has been set at six figures for a Sedalia resident who has been charged with a felony after a reported incident on Sunday, December 6.

According to a police report, an officer reported to a structure fire in the 400 block of Buckner Court. The officer talked to a witness who said she heard another person in another apartment talking about committing suicide and setting the apartment on fire. The resident of that apartment was identified as Quincy Pierce.

After Pierce’s apartment was cleared, the officer did a walk through with a fire fighter, who pointed out it appeared as the fire had started in one of the bedrooms around a mattress. Another witness reported that she had received text messages from Pierce admitting to setting the fire. Pierce later talked to authorities and admitted to setting the fire.

Pierce is charged with a Class B Felony for Arson in the First Degree. Bond is fixed at $250,000 cash or surety.

Pierce was arraigned on December 8. A counsel-status hearing is scheduled to be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
