Positive COVID-19 case numbers increased in three area counties on Friday, January 8. However more recoveries dropped the active case count in two counties.

In Pettis County, 37 positive cases were added to make the county’s total 4,439 since the beginning of the pandemic. However, 60 previously positive patients were released from public health isolation as recovered, increasing that total to 3,996. With 66 COVID-19-related deaths and 3,996 recoveries, the active case count dropped to 377, including eight positive patients hospitalized.

Five new positive cases were reported, raising Chariton County’s total to 720. With 10 recoveries on Friday, upping that number to 627, and 16 deaths, the active case county decreased to 77.

According to the Saline County Health Department’s COVID-19 Dashboard, the active COVID-19 case count inched up by one in the county from the day before. Twenty new positive cases were added, upping the total to 2,398. The number of previously positive cases now deemed inactive grew by 19 to 2,181. So, with 47 deaths and 2,181 recoveries, there are 170 active cases in the county.

Updates were not available from Carroll, Cooper, Howard and Lafayette Counties.
