The active COVID-19 case count dropped in three area counties over the weekend.

According to the Saline County Health Department’s COVID-19 Dashboard, 23 positive cases were added over the weekend, but 30 previously-positive cases were deemed inactive over the same time frame. In all, the county has had 2,421 total positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic. With 2,211 previously-positive cases now deemed inactive and 47 total deaths, there are 163 active cases in the county.

According to health-department officials in Howard County, nine new positive cases were added, but 25 previously-positive patients were released from public health isolation as recovered. In all, there have been 962 positive cases. With 901 recoveries and four deaths, there are 57 active cases, including one positive patient hospitalized.

In Chariton County, three new positive cases were confirmed, but six previously-positive cases were added as recoveries. There have been 725 total positive cases in the county. Due to 635 recoveries and 16 deaths, there are 74 active cases in the county.

Updates were not available from Carroll, Cooper, Lafayette and Pettis Counties.
