One man pleads guilty, while the other continues to profess his innocence after the two inmates were charged with felonies for being involved in incidents while other inmates were rioting on July 2, 2020.

According to a probable-cause statement, 35-year-old William Myers was in the day room with a correction officer at the Boonville Correctional Center, when he grabbed the officer by the shirt and started to push and pull the officer our of the day room into the foyer.

Another statement says 24-year-old Felix Jones was trying to come out of his bay when he was given directives to stay in his bay by a correction officer. Jones refused to follow the commands of the officer, and then hit the officer in the face twice with a closed fist. Jones was pepper sprayed.

Each subject has been charged with a Class B Felony for Violence to an Employee of the Department of Corrections.

On January 11, Jones withdrew his not guilty plea that he entered on November 23 and plead guilty. The court sentenced Jones to 5-years in jail with credit for time served.

Myers was arraigned and entered a plea of not guilty on September 15, 2020. Preliminary Hearing Setting in this case is set for 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Cooper County Circuit Court.
