It was a light agenda for the Higginsville Board of Aldermen during its meeting on Tuesday, January 19.

According to a city spokesperson, aldermen approved a bill amending a section of city code relating to reserve police officers.

According to a release from City Administrator Jeanette Dobson, the bill was discussed at a January 4 committee meeting. Changes include the change of the hourly compensation from 80 percent of the base pay to an amount equal to the hourly base pay for a regular police officer. Also, during a review of this section, staff noticed that it was stated “at no time shall less than 75 percent of the reserve police force reside further than a 10-minute response time from City Hall.” Due to the limited availability of local reserve officers, the city removed the response-time requirement.

In other news, the three incumbents filed to run for another term as aldermen. Running unopposed are Scott Road in the First Ward; Beau Linebach in the Second Ward; and Stanton Thompson in the Third Ward.

The Municipal Election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 6.
