Marshall firefighters were toned out after an alarm was sounded at and a 9-1-1 call was placed from Rose Acre Farms on Friday, January 22.

According to a fire-department spokesperson, fire fighters were dispatched at 4:11 a.m. They arrived on the scene at 123 North Miami Avenue at 4:17 a.m.

The alarm was sounded when a person on the scene started smelling smoke.

Upon arrival, firefighters noted moderate smoke in the east end of the building. Firemen did a search of the building with no fire found. They opened doors to let the building ventilate.

Upon further investigation, firefighters found a room that had been on fire before their arrival. But due to the doors being closed, the blaze extinguished itself. They ventilated that room and made sure the fire was out and no further spread had occurred.

It was determined that a fluorescent light fixture had malfunctioned and caught fire.

Damage was estimated at $2,000.

There were no injuries reported from the scene.
