An area health department has given some doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to a new release, the Lafayette County Health Department has administered 48 doses of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine to individuals within the county.

Director Tom Emerson says, “We currently have more vaccine on order but we do not know yet when we will receive our next shipment.”

Emerson also says, “We are required to follow a staged and tiered approach to vaccine administration, and therefore responses will not be kept in any type of order as to the time completed. We will do our best to contact individuals that fall within the proper priority groups when vaccine is available to them. The availability of vaccine to LCHD is extremely limited at this time.”
