Two more COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Pettis County on Thursday, January 28.

According to health-department officials, that makes 70 deaths in the county since the beginning of the pandemic. The total positive case count increased by 64 to 4,732. With 4,381 recoveries and 70 deaths, there are 281 active cases in the county, including nine positive patients hospitalized.

In Lafayette County, 47 new positive cases were confirmed since its last update on January 21, increasing its overall total to 2,116. Other information on recoveries and the number of deaths was not available.

The active case count in Chariton County continues to drop. The total positive case count remained at 785 for the third straight day. With four of the previously-positive cases being released from public health isolation as recovered, the active case count has dropped to 32. There have been 18 COVID-19-related deaths in the county.

Updates were not available from Saline, Carroll, Cooper, and Howard Counties.
