The bitterly-cold temperatures and prediction of snow may impact vaccine distribution, according to Pettis County health officials.

During the meeting of the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force on Monday, February 8, you should check the website of the organization where you are scheduled for receiving your COVID-19 vaccine to see if there are any cancellations.

Officials say, “We understand that travel can be difficult and we want to work with our community to continue to provide vaccine.”

According to Pettis County Health Department officials, Pettis County has now vaccinated 11 percent of the population with at least one dose. Vaccination clinics are planned for this week for those who are in Level 1B- Tiers 1 and 2, along with anyone still in Level 1A.

Bothwell Regional Health Center will be scheduling for the large clinics at the Fairgrounds. A paper copy of the registration form is available at the hospital, Pettis County Health Center and several churches in the community.

Health officials urge residents to “Please help friends and family who do not have access to the internet or cannot get out easily to register for vaccine. Online registration is also available through the Bothwell and Pettis County Health Center websites.

Health officials say, “We are trying to reach all eligible people in the current categories. OATS is providing transportation to vaccine clinics free of charge. To schedule transportation, call (800) 276-6287.

Health officials also urge to “Please be patient as we try to register everyone who is eligible for vaccine at this time. All providers are following the guidelines. You may read of people from other states who are being vaccinated at our clinics. If that is happening, then people are not being truthful when they register. If you have submitted a form, are in a category to be vaccinated, and have not received a call in 10 days, please contact the Health Center. If your doctor is part of Bothwell, your registration form is probably with the schedulers at Bothwell.”
