The removal of two problematic trees was discussed by the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen during its meeting on Monday, February 8.

According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, City Clerk Michelle Fuehring pointed out the first tree is in the park next to the ball diamond. She said it is the tree that caused damage to the dugout.

Fuehring said the other tree is in the alley on Jefferson Street. She said the city and alderman John Clevenger have been contacted about the tree.

Alderman Boyd Jones recommended the city advertise for bids for removal of the trees. The board voted to approve the recommendation. All bids should be in by 5 p.m. on February 26.

In other news, aldermen approved the appointments of Lee Nienhueser, Kris Raven, Nancy McKeage, Darla Reid and Allison Schowengerdt to the Transient Guest Tax Committee.

Aldermen also voted to approve the purchase of some Christmas decorations for the downtown area while they are still on sale.
