Cooper County Public Health Center Administrator Melanie Hutton has issued an urgent request regarding COVID-19 vaccinations.

She says this information is for Cooper County residents who are on the CCPHC waiting list only.

CCPHC is requesting that all residents on the health center’s waiting list waiting to receive his/her first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to re-register as outlined.

If you have access to a computer, register online by typing or cutting and pasting mostopscovid.com in your computer’s browser.

If you do not have computer access, register by telephone at (877) 435-8411, and choose Option No. 1.

Vaccine Buddy Volunteer Program

Hutton also says CCPHC is very concerned about residents who have only a landline phone or are without phone service. Even if you register using the number above, you must call to make a vaccination appointment to receive the COVID vaccine at a Community Clinic.

CCPHC is asking all 1,500 residents on its Vaccine Wait List to receive his/her first shot to designate a family member, friend or neighbor with computer and/or smartphone capabilities, to assist with registration, respond to e-mails or texts and schedule appointments when Community Clinics are announced.

CCPHC also is seeking community volunteers from churches, civic groups, businesses, service organizations, etc., to serve as conduits between those without access to electronic messaging services and those who need the advantages instant messaging provides. CCPHC will ask volunteers to contact individuals on the Wait List and share information about the Missouri COVID Vaccine Navigator System. If those wait listed don’t have friends or family with the needed access, the volunteer can provide those services if agreeable to both parties. This is voluntary.

In order for the volunteer to assist a wait-listed resident, the resident must provide the volunteer with their address, birth date, race, sex and review some medical questions and allergies- which can be answered with a Yes or No response. The volunteer will read the consent to the resident. With the resident’s agreement, the individual will be registered with the COVID vaccine system. The volunteer will receive text or e-mail messages when a clinic will be held in Cooper County and can then schedule the resident for an appointment at that clinic. Residents who want to be registered to receive the vaccine will never be asked for their Social Security Number or financial information.

CCPHC’s goal is to make sure no resident goes without the vaccine due to lack of access. This system is free to everyone.

Hutton says, “It shouldn’t take much time, spreads good will, and helps protect vulnerable citizens and our community against the COVID virus.”

If you received a first dose from CCPHC, you will be contacted by phone to confirm your second-dose appointment.

Hutton adds, “These changes should free up CCPHC staff to make the vaccine process even quicker.”
