Thomas M. “Tom” Sullivan, age 67, of Merriam, Kansas, and formerly of Slater, died Saturday, February 13, 2021, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday, February 22, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Social distancing will be observed, and masks are required. Private family funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., with Rev. Paul List officiating. Burial will follow at Slater City Cemetery, with Corey Sullivan, Clint Mitts, Nathan Sullivan, Brian Sullivan, Lynn Sullivan, and Samuel Peeples serving as pallbearers.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Born July 3, 1953 in Marshall, he was the son of the late Albert L. Sullivan and Betty Lou Hielderbrand Sullivan, who survives of Slater. On March 6, 1981 in Marshall, he married Janet Cook, and she survives of the home.

Also surviving are three sons, Scott Sullivan and his wife Maggie of Kansas City, Missouri, Michael Sullivan and his wife Katie of Kansas City, Missouri, and Corey Sullivan and his wife Stacey of Shawnee, Kansas; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Lynn Sullivan of Slater. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Sullivan.

Mr. Sullivan was a 1971 graduate of Slater High School. He worked as an Engineer for the Kansas City Southern Railroad for 21 years before his retirement. He moved to Merriam, Kansas, from the state of Louisiana in 2019.
