An area law-enforcement agency has reported a death of an inmate.

According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, on Saturday evening, February 20, detention staff found an inmate unresponsive and not breathing in his cell.

Staff began CPR and called for medical and first responders to come to the Detention Center.

The inmate was later pronounced deceased by Henry County Coroner Dain Sisk. The inmate’s name has not been released.

Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom has requested the Western Missouri Sheriff’s Critical Incident Team comprised of investigators from several counties to complete the investigation.

An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday, February 21, in Kansas City.
