LaVerne Little, of Corinth, Mississippi, formerly of Marshall, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. She was 92 years old.

LaVerne was born January 18, 1929, in Augusta, Georgia, the youngest daughter of Joseph Newton and Juliaette Jones Epps. She graduated from Tubman High School in Augusta and Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. On December 28, 1950, she married James Henry (Jim) Little III who preceded her in death in 1984. She was a proofreader for Retail Credit Company in Atlanta, Georgia, and then became a stay-at-home mom.

LaVerne did a lot of volunteer activities for many years – church librarian at First Baptist Church in Marshall, treasurer for Meals on Wheels, active in PTA, Fitzgibbon Hospital gift shop buyer, and WMU leader for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Rev. Jim Little and wife Carla of Edom, Texas, and Rev. John Little and wife Connie of Michie, Tennessee; four granddaughters, Janet Brooks and husband Tom of Lubbock, Texas, Bonnie Mitchell and husband Scott of Owasso, Oklahoma, Jennifer Noatch and husband Matt of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Julianne Ratliff and husband Joshua of Adamsville, Tennessee; and nine great-grandchildren, plus one great-granddaughter due to be born within the next few weeks!

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, one son David Little, two brothers Jones Epps and Marion Epps, and two sisters Jewelene Epps and Iris Epps Hewett.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, Missouri, Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating.
