This year, 12 Saline County Career Center DECA students participated at state-level competition virtually March 9-19.

On March 19, it was announced that two members scored in the top eight of their categories and earned medals.

Alexia Bowlen earned a medal for the community-service giving event; and Holly Huston earned a medal for the principal of finance event.

During the state award ceremony, the SCCC DECA chapter received recognition for the completion of several chapter campaigns this year, and earned “Thrive” status as a DECA chapter.

It also was announced that the chapter was the only chapter in Missouri to complete the DECA advocacy campaign. This campaign takes place in February during Career and Technical Education Month. To earn this honor, the chapter completed three areas of concentration that include school outreach activities, public policy-maker outreach activities and community outreach activities for the third year in a row.
