A 29-year-old Fayette man was seriously injured after he was thrown out of the back of a pickup truck on Tuesday, April 6, in Howard County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred as Little Charles L. Belsher stood up in the bed of a northbound Ford F-150 and was ejected onto the roadway. The truck was being driven by 57-year-old Michael Barnette, of Fayette, who was not injured.

Belsher was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

The accident happened at 11:04 a.m. on Missouri Highway 5, two miles north of Missouri Highway 3.
