On April 13, the Sedalia Police Department hosted its annual awards ceremony at The Venue.

The Department welcomed officers, their families, city council members, city leadership and employees and citizens for an evening of fellowship and to recognize acts of excellence over the past year.

Officer Brett Twenter received the high honor of being awarded the 2020 “Officer of the Year.”

Officer Twenter began his career with the Sedalia Police Department in 2019.

Police officials say, “From the beginning, Officer Twenter established himself as an extremely proactive officer who specialized in drug interdiction. Officer Twenter made countless drug cases at the patrol level, and then used his investigative skill to uncover far greater illegal activity within our community. Officer Twenter is a team player who cooperates well with his shiftmates and other investigative units within the department, along with members of neighboring agencies. When not fielding calls for service or getting dangerous drugs off the streets of Sedalia, Officer Twenter is involved in department recruiting and is a member of the Entry Team. Officer Twenter brings a positive attitude, dedication to service and community involvement to each shift.”
