Human remains were found in an area county late last week.

On Thursday, April 15, members of the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a rural area west of Boonville for a report of a possible discovery of human remains.

Once on scene, deputies confirmed the articles located were human remains.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, as well as the Cooper County Coroner’s Office, were requested to assist with processing of the scene.

According to an update from Cooper County Sheriff Chris Class, the remains are in the custody of the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office. The M.E.’s office is in the process of its investigation, which could take several days due to the condition of the remains. No identification can be made at this time.

Class says as soon as he gets more information from the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office, he will put out a press release.
