A 45-year-old Cole Camp man is facing a felony charge after he allegedly led law-enforcement officers on a high-speed pursuit through part of Sedalia and then south into Benton County on Sunday, April 11.

A report from a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper says he observed a vehicle traveling 58 miles per hour in a 35 miles-per-hour zone. The vehicle sped away from an attempted stop, and eventually traveled up to 80 miles per hour on Route U. The vehicle’s tires were deflated by spike strips once in Benton County. The vehicle came to a stop, and Scott Wayne Mathis was arrested.

According to court documents, Mathis is charged with a felony for resisting arrest for a felony and a driving-related misdemeanor. Mathis posted $25,000 surety bond on April 15.

Mathis is scheduled for arraignment at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 27 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
