A K-9 officer at an area law-enforcement agency is retiring.

According to a release from Cooper County Sheriff Chris Class, Grimm joined the Cooper County Sheriff’s office in May 2015.

Grimm earned annual certifications through the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA) and the Missouri Police Canine Association (MPCA) for narcotics detection and patrol.

Class says Grimm has proven himself valuable throughout the years- with well over 300 deployments; located more than 240 pounds of narcotics; and tracked and located many fleeing fugitives.

Class says, “Without Grimm’s direct involvement in many of these investigations, an arrest would not have been made.”

Grimm will enjoy his retirement with his handler and family.

Class says, “Grimm is leaving behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.”

Class also says, “We will have a new team member in the near future, and cannot wait to introduce him to the community.”
