A street closure for part of a day to conduct an event was approved by the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen.

According to unofficial minutes from the board meeting on Thursday, May 13, Drake Goode, representing First Baptist Church, told the board that the church is planning to hold its annual block party from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 16.

The church asked for permission to close Main Street from Locust to Patrick Streets for different activities. Goode said this is a family event.

Aldermen voted to approve the street closure from 3 to 9 p.m. for the event.

In other news, aldermen approved a bid of $450 from Parrish Barrier to fix the Gusher in the park.
