A Waverly man is facing multiple felonies following an incident in Waverly on Wednesday, June 9.

According to a probable cause statement, at approximately 1:53 p.m., on Wednesday, an Officer with the Waverly Police Department responded to a physical disturbance in the area of Old Bridge Rd near Thomas Dr. During the investigation, it was determined that there was cause to arrest 26-year-old Brandon Shackelford.

While officers searched for Shackelford, he called into the Higginsville Central Dispatching Center six times on the emergency line. He was reportedly hostile towards dispatchers and took up valuable time on the emergency 911 line. The assistance of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, Saline County Sheriff’s Office, and Missouri State Highway Patrol were requested to locate Brandon.

Shackelford was located at approximately 3:21 p.m. near the Waverly city limits. A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle Shackelford was driving, which initially failed to yield to the emergency equipment and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. He eventually stopped and was noncompliant with officers on scene, failed to comply with verbal directives, and became physically aggressive. A taser was deployed, and Shackelford was detained. After being detained, Shackelford proceeded to become physically violent with law enforcement officers on scene.

Once Shackelford was taken into custody he began kicking the back window of the patrol vehicle trying to break the glass.

According to court documents, Shackelford is facing felony charges for: domestic assault in the second degree; resisting or interfering with arrest for a felony; two counts for escape or attempted escape from custody while under arrest for a felony. He is also charged with three counts of misdemeanor assault in the fourth degree-special victims; misdemeanor drug possession and a driving related misdemeanor. He is currently being held without bond.

His initial court appearance is pending at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
