Some bids were approved during the meeting of the Marshall Municipal Utilities’ Board of Public Works on Thursday, July 15.

General Manager Jeff Bergstrom explained a bidder for the Round 1 of the USDA Broadband Grant conduit installation met all requirements.

The bid approved was for $592,000. As Bergstrom said, this is to authorize Marshall Mayor Julie Schwetz to be able to sign the agreement. So it will have to be approved by the city council. Its next meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 19.

Bids were opened on June 29 for a new or used personnel lift to replace one that is currently 23 years old. With a budget of $25,000, the board approved the bid of $15,510.25 from Crown Lift Trucks for a Genie GR-20 personnel lift.

The board also OK’d a bid of $67,835 from Septagon Industries in Sedalia for painting, replacing the vinyl siding and new garage doors at the business office at 75 East Morgan Street. Controller Tony Bersano said Septagon can start the work in about 60 days with completion about 60 days from the start date.

The board also approved a recommendation to reject the one bid received for the replacement of doors for the water treatment department. The bid received was nearly triple the budgeted amount of $25,000 for the project. The project will be put out for bid again at a later date.
