marijuana-arrest

One of two Versailles men charged with multiple felonies after a traffic stop last year in Lafayette County is due in court this week.

Authorities allegedly found two packages of leaf marijuana- totaling 2.17 pounds.

Michael Eugene Jensen and Rick William Lawson each was charged with a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Lawson also was charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

During his hearing on May 17, Lawson- as part of a plea deal- withdrew his previous not-guilty plea- and pleaded guilty to the possession charge, with the other charge dismissed by the court.

Lawson was sentenced to 10 years at the Missouri Department of Corrections. The court also orders Lawson to be placed in a long-term substance-abuse program.

Jensen, who pleaded not guilty last October, is scheduled for a plea/trial-setting hearing at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 19, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
