Barbara S. Fizer, 94, of rural Slater, died Wednesday, July 28, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 3 at Slater City Cemetery, with Rev. Jess Spurgin officiating.  Pallbearers will be Brent Land, Matt Thies, Jim Dobbins, Zach Smith, Jake Winston, and Caleb Griffitt.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time.

Tuesday at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.  Memorials are suggested to Gilliam Public Schools.

Born October 11, 1926 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Johnnie Mae Hall Hoffmeyer.  On February 6, 1948 in Slater, she married Richard C. Fizer, and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1965.

She is survived by a son, Mark Fizer and his wife Judy of rural Slater; two daughters, Connie Clements and her husband Joe of rural Miami, and Becky Browning of Lexington; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her companion dog Rocky.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Hoffmeyer.

Mrs. Fizer was a member of the Slater United Methodist Church.  She was a 1943 graduate of Gilliam High School.  She was a homemaker, and had worked at Central R-2 Schools for several years.
