A new study finds Missouri has the 12th-worst property crime rate in the country- including burglary, larceny, vehicle theft and arson. However, two cities in the immediate KMMO listening area are listed as being a couple of the safest in the state.

Safehome.org says the state’s current property crime rate is 25 percent higher than the national average at 26.4 crimes per 1,000 people. Branson West has the highest rate, while Sweet Springs has the lowest.

Nationally, one in five households experienced property crime last year, and victims lost $13 billion in 2019.

Some of the findings of the study for Missouri include:

· Residents have a 2.64 percent chance of being victims in the next year.
· The five worst cities are Branson West, Branson, North Kansas City, Cassville and Springfield.
· The five best cities are Sweet Springs, Huntsville, Alma, Tarkio and Lakeshire.
· The property crime rate has decreased by 21 percent since 2010.
