During the meeting of the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force on Monday, August 23, Pettis County Health Center officials updated COVID-19 numbers.

They said, as of August 23, there have been a total of 6,361 cases as compared to 6,237 cases on August 16 and 6,064 cases on August 9 since the beginning of the pandemic in the county. This is an increase of 124 cases in the past week and 297 cases in the past two weeks.

The DHSS website is reporting Pettis County has a positivity rate of 15.5 percent for the past seven days as compared to 16.3 percent last week with PCR testing. This week, there were 796 PCR tests and 451 antigen tests for a total of 1,247. Last week, there were 1,412 tests. Based on analysis of local data, there were 58 positive cases in June and 601 positive cases in July, which was an increase of 938 percent.

There are 21 individuals hospitalized at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia- the same as the week prior. There are six patients on a ventilator as compared to three the previous week.

The DHSS website now reports 83 deaths in Pettis County- up from 82 last week. A report was received of the death of a resident less than 50 years old.

The case counts by age for the time period August 12-18 which is the time frame data reporting is more complete: Age 0 to 4- five cases; 5 to 12- eight cases; 13 to 18- 11 cases; 19 to 24- 14 cases; 25 to 29- seven cases; 30 to 34- eight cases; 35 to 39- 12 cases; 40 to 44- seven cases; 45 to 49- nine cases; 50 to 54- 15 cases; 55 to 59- eight cases; 60 to 64- nine cases; 65 to 69- six cases; 70 to 74- five cases; 75 to 79- one case; and 80+- zero cases.
