Like so many other events in 2020, Carrollton Band Day was a casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the pandemic still present, the event is a go for Saturday, September 25.
According to Carrollton High School Band Director David Phillips, the 51st event will begin with the parade on the west and south sides of the square at 8 a.m. Indoor auxiliary and drumline competitions will be held beginning at 9 a.m. in the gymnasium at Carrollton High School. The field events will take place beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Stan Kee Field.
Phillips says the only thing different than past years is no spectators will be allowed at the indoor performances- just the performers and judges.
In all, Phillips says 57 bands are scheduled to be on hand, with a total of 120 entries in the four categories.
Phillips said folks wishing to attend the festivities can park anywhere they can find a spot, and a trolley will run from the square to the high school from early in the morning to just after noon.
KMMO’s Mandy Young will be broadcasting live reports from Carrollton Band Day from 8 to 10 a.m.
