It was time to close out the financial books of the year in Higginsville this week. The current Fiscal Year ends on Thursday, September 30, and the new Fiscal Year begins on Friday, October 1.

According to information provided by City Administrator Jeanette Dobson, the current budget was amended and closed out with expenses increasing by $279,965. But revenues shot up by $899,550. The Board of Aldermen approved the amended budget during its meeting on Monday, September 27.

Aldermen also approved the next Fiscal Year’s budget in the amount of $19,076,459.

In other news, it was noted that Gerding, Korte and Chitwood CPAs will be conducting the city’s annual audit. Most of the work will be done virtually from the firm’s office in Boonville. However, the CPAs will be at city hall on Friday, October 1, to complete the inventory process. November 15-17 is the period set aside to complete the review of the city’s books- which will mainly be completed by phone and e-mail.
