The Higginsville Board of Aldermen met in open session on Monday, October 4, and approved a bill to amend a section of a city ordinance relating to closed records.

According to information provided by City Administrator Jeanette Dobson, this is being updated to simplify the city’s ordinance concerning the closed records section. By making this change, the city will stay up to date without having to amend it when the state makes changes.

In other news, the board approved a request made by Grace United Methodist Church and Salem United Church of Christ to close 15th Street between Main and Walnut Streets from 3 to 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, for their “Trunk or Treat” event.

In addition, Dobson informed aldermen the next Missouri Municipal League’s (MML) next meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, in Sedalia. The featured presentation is scheduled to be about “Broadband Deployment.”
