Two area Tyson facilities are scheduled to host upcoming community food donation events this weekend.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, volunteers at Tyson Foods in Sedalia will be distributing upwards of 40,000 pounds of chicken to the public.

Officials say the event is COVID-friendly, with a planned car-line beginning at 9 a.m. at 19571 Whitfield Road in Sedalia.

A company spokesperson says any leftover food will be donated to Open Door Food Bank.

Additionally, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, the Tyson Foods Concordia facility is scheduled to distribute upwards of 40,000 pounds of protein including bacon, ham, chicken and more at 1901 South St. Louis Street in Concordia.

During both food donation events, Tyson staff will be onsite to answer any questions about job opportunities. The Concordia facility is looking to bring on 50 new team members and the Sedalia facility is looking to bring on 300 new team members.
