Could you and your family benefit from participating in the WIC program? Participants must be pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding women, infants or children under 5 years of age. To be eligible, you must meet nutritional or medical guidelines, as well as the income guidelines.

The Johnson County Community Health Services’ (JCCHS) Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Program has expanded its satellite clinics. Military families on or near Whiteman Air Force Base will now have WIC services available to them on base.

WIC nutritionists will be available at the Airman and Family Readiness Center the second, third and fourth Thursday of every month beginning Thursday, December 9. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, call (660) 747-2012.

In addition, WIC has satellite clinics at the Jubilee Center in Knob Noster the first Thursday of every month and at the Community Activity Center in Holden on the first, second and third Wednesdays of the month. Staff also sees clients in the office at JCCHS at 723 PCA Road in Warrensburg. Hours include 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays; and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. the second and fourth Fridays. WIC is closed during the lunch hour from noon to 1 p.m. at all locations.

WIC offers personalized nutrition counseling, breastfeeding education and support, health promotion, supplemental food and referrals to other health providers and social service agencies that help women, infants and children eat healthy and stay well. Nutritious foods provided by WIC include milk, cheeses, yogurt, tofu, eggs, beans, whole grains, juice, fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables and infant foods through a personalized food package. WIC also provides breast pumps and personalized education and support by our Lactation Consultants on staff at Johnson County WIC.
