State Fair Community College students earned honors at the Missouri Professional Agriculture Students (PAS) conference November 4-6 at Ozarks Technical Community College on the Richwood Valley campus.

A news release says 10 SFCC agriculture students attended along with Agriculture program coordinator Brad Driskill. They competed in contests designed to develop skills required by employers in the agriculture industry; attended workshops; listened to speakers; and participated in mock interviews. The students brought home 10 first-place honors, as well as five second- and three third-place finishes. SFCC’s Team A won the College Bowl State Championship, and Team B made it to the semifinal round.

During the election of 2021-22 Missouri PAS officers at the conference, two SFCC students were elected to serve: Haley Halsey, of Odessa, received the most votes for secretary; and Bayleigh Hunziger, of Cross Timbers, was the winning candidate for reporter.

Agriculture Education Systems – Haley Halsey, Odessa, first place; Sydney Pettigrew, California, Missouri, second place;
Horticulture, Environmental and Natural Resource Systems – Hallie Giesike, Washington, Missouri, first place;
Plant Systems – Kelise Rehkop, Concordia, first place; and
Ruminant Animal Systems – Bayleigh Hunziger, Cross Timbers, third place;

Career Progress:
Agribusiness Management and Marketing Systems – Wyatt Montgomery, Warrensburg, second place;
Horticulture Environmental and Natural Resources Systems – Krystle Lain, Houstonia, first place; and
Power, Structural and Technical Systems – Garrett Lammers, Boonville, first place;

Employment Interview:
Agribusiness Sales – Garrett Lammers, Boonville, second place;
Livestock Production -Allyson Sampson, Sedalia, second place;
Agriculture Education – Haley Halsey, Odessa, first place; and
Fruit and Vegetable Production – Krystle Lain, Houstonia, first place;
