A 25-year-old Benton county man has been charged after the report of an accidental shooting on Tuesday, November 23.

According to a probable-cause statement, Benton County authorities responded to the report of an accidental shooting, at approximately 4:16 a.m., in the Bent Tree Harbor subdivision in Warsaw. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim and started life-saving measures on 28-year-old Tarah D. McIntyre, of the residence, but were unable to revive her. After further investigation of the crime scene, Jason L. Kroenke, of the same residence, was taken into custody.

Kroenke told authorities he and McIntyre were the only two people in the bedroom and had been doing meth since 10 p.m. Monday, November 22. After getting into an argument, Kroenke said he was standing with his back to McIntyre. He said McIntyre threatened to kill herself, and as he turned around the gun had gone off.

Authorities say Kroenke’s statement about what happened was inconsistent with the evidence and crime scene.

Court documents say Kroenke is charged with felonies for first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Kroenke is being held without bond.

Kroenke’s initial hearing is pending at Benton County Circuit Court.
