Officials in the City of Pilot Grove have issued a reminder to residents about trash pickup.

Officials say, “It is important to restate that all residential trash must be placed at your residential curb site for pick up. There are no other dump sites where the collector will pick it up. Dumping trash at other locations for pick up will only create more work for the city, which will require the hiring of additional employees- which will require additional trash collection fees to be added to all the residents’ accounts to pay for this additional service.”

City officials also note that, “even though the City is authorized to enter into agreements to provide trash collection service, it is not required to do so. Help keep our City neat and clean by allowing the collector to pick up your trash at your curb site only. There is no doubt that some of the trash placed in town for pick up is from nonresidents. Identity of those will assist our police department in preventing this trashing of our town.”
