There are currently less than 50 positive COVID-19 cases in Lafayette County.

According to the Lafayette County Health Department, as of Monday, November 29, 44 individuals have tested positive f0r COVID-19. The county has fully vaccinated 42.4 percent of its population, and 48.1 percent of county residents have received at least one dose.

There are 10 persons currently hospitalized, and the death total remains at 75 due to the virus. The county’s positivity rate is 12.6 percent, per the CDC COVID Data Tracker.

Health officials say Odessa has the highest numbers of reported cases at 20, followed by Lexington and Higginsville with six cases each. Concordia comes in next with three; followed by Alma, Mayview and Napoleon with one each.

These numbers do not include positive rapid antigen results, as they are not considered diagnostic by the CDC.

If you haven’t been vaccinated and would like to be, you can visit the health-department office on from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays or Wednesdays for its walk-in services.
