Pettis County Health Center officials say approximately 45.3 percent of the county’s population have started the vaccination series.

According to the state’s website, 19,180 Pettis County residents have started the vaccination process and 17,118 are considered fully vaccinated, which is approximately 40.4 percent of the population.

However, health center officials say Pettis County is falling behind state rates of 60.5 percent have started the vaccination series and 53.5 percent are fully vaccinated.

According to minutes from this week’s COVID-19 Task Force meeting, the state is reporting 71.6 percent of the population over 18 has started and 63.8 percent are fully vaccinated. For Pettis County, 56.8 percent of the population 18+ have started the vaccination process (18,104) and 51 percent (16,263) are fully vaccinated.

According to the Missouri DHSS website, 14.2 percent (1,073) of 5- to 17-year-olds have started vaccination and 11.3 percent (854) are fully vaccinated. For the 65+ age group, 78.4 percent (5,680) have started vaccination and 71.5 percent (5,178) are considered fully vaccinated.

Vaccine is available for everyone 5 years of age and older. Booster doses are given at least six months after the last dose of the two-dose series for Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or two months after the J&J vaccine. They are available for those 16 years and older through area pharmacies, the Pettis County Health Center, Katy Trail Community Health and Bothwell Regional Health Center. All vaccines are free.

The Pettis County Health Center provides vaccine for homebound individuals. You should call (660) 827-1130 to make arrangements. The Pettis County Health Center has regular walk-in clinics from 9 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays; from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Thursdays; and from noon to 3 p.m. on Fridays. The Health Center closes at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 31, in observance of New Year’s Day.
