b-2-flyover-at-rose-bowl-1-2-22

With precision timing, a Whiteman Air Force Base Airman continued a family legacy in Pasadena, California, on New Year’s Day.

Captain Kyle Cassady piloted a B-2 Spirit Stealth Aircraft during a flyover at the Rose Bowl.

Captain Cassady’s grandfather Howard “Hopalong” Cassady played for The Ohio State University in the 1955 Rose Bowl. Cassady also won the Heisman Trophy that season.

As The Ohio State University band was finishing up the National Anthem prior to kickoff between the Buckeyes and Utah Utes, Captain Cassady, who graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2014, zoomed the B-2 over the stadium that was filled to capacity.

The B-2 is America’s premier strategic stealth bomber and one of the world’s most advanced aircraft. It is operated by the 509th and 131st Bomb Wings at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster.
