State Fair Community College has invited five semi-finalist candidates to the Sedalia campus as part of the search for the college’s next president.

According to a press release, SFCC began the process of finding its next president following current president Dr. Joanna Anderson’s announcement in August that she would retire at the end of June 2022. The college put together a multi-stakeholder committee to screen applicants that began last fall.

Offcials say each visit for each candidate will last a day and a half and will include a public presentation with a question-and-answer session to follow. All members of the community and SFCC service region are invited to attend. The public sessions is scheduled to be in the Thompson Conference Center in the Heckart Science and Allied Health Center, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on the candidates assigned date.

Attendees can submit feedback on each candidate’s presentation and Q&A.

Rachel Dawson, executive director of Human Resources says, “This is a great opportunity to meet each candidate and share your impression with the college. As a community college, it is critical that we include all of our stakeholders in this very important decision.”

SFCC has invited five candidates to campus:

  • Dr. Brent Bates on Friday, January 21;
  • Dr. Michelle Schutt on Monday, January 24;
  • Dr. David Hinds on Wednesday, January 26;
  • Dr. Randy Smith on Friday, January 28; and
  • Dr. David Braverman on Monday, January 31.

Those unable to attend any of the sessions on campus will be able to view the recorded public presentations on February 1 by going to sfccmo.edu/presidential-search.
