An active shooter situation has been reported at an area hospital.

According to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, a violent intruder situation has developed there.

Hospital officials say there is an active shooter at the main hospital, and multiple law-enforcement agencies have responded. Staff and patients are being evacuated now.

The Warrensburg Police Department has asked the public to avoid the area.

The Warrensburg Department of Parks and Recreation says it has locked down the nearby Community Center and Aquatic Center pending resolution of the incident.

The highway patrol says no shots have been fired at this time.
