The Slater Board of Education is seeking a new board member.

According to a release from the school district, residents of the school district wishing to apply for the vacant position should send a letter of interest stating their qualifications and their reason for wising to be a board member to Superintendent Dr. Terry Lorenz at 515 North Elm Street, Slater, Mo. 65349.

To be eligible to hold office in accordance with Missouri Law: You must be a citizen of the United States of America and a resident taxpayer in the Slater School District; have resided in the state of Missouri for a minimum of one year immediately preceding your election; at least 24 years of age; not delinquent in payment of any state income taxes and/or personal property taxes; not found guilty of nor have pleaded guilty to a felony under the federal laws of the United States; and not registered nor required to be registered as a sex offender pursuant to Missouri law.

Letters must be received before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9.
